ERC Drupal Site Installation

SynBERC has created a Drupal 6 version of its own intranet tools intended to assist other ERCs in setting up their own sites. A brief presentation outlining the features of the system is available. (Drupal is the content management system that synberc.org is built upon.)

The installation requires a web server with, at a minimum, the following technologies:

  • Apache 1.3 or 2.x
  • PHP 4.4.0 or higher
  • MySQL 4.1 or higher

While the installation only takes a few minutes, the person doing the installation have a basic understanding of the following:

  • FTP and moving files to a server
  • Changing file permissions
  • Creating a MySQL database
  • Populating the database with a batch file

Once installed, the site will require an administrator who has familiarity with Drupal 6.

To begin the installation, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the zipped install files (erc.zip)
  2. Unzip the install files
  3. Move the contents of the unzipped "installation_files" directory to your server
  4. Using a web browser, navigate to the "install" directory on your server and follow the directions.
